If you are in the UK and need to get much more accurate search results from Google, then always use Google UK address and not ordinary www.Google.com because the default and ordinary Google.com is the default Homepage for the USA and so, almost 80% of the results is concentrated from the United States of America.

Google’s technology automatically detects the IP (Internet Protocol) address of a country a surfer is browsing from. In essence, if you are in London for example, and you type in Google.com into your browser, what will come up will be Google.co.uk because the system will automatically serve you the preferred homepage based on the geographical location. This development is crucial and important because it is a well-known fact that the world’s biggest search engine/Internet Company does selective or targeted search results, based on your location and your sign in or login status to your Google account.

So, back to Google UK, it is just mandatory and importance to always use this to search the web for anyone based over there.

How to make Google UK your homepage

This is an interesting question worthy of a good answer. There are many benefits you will get when you make your homepage to be that of Google UK, most especially for anyone living and/or residing in the United Kingdom. One of the essential advantage is the fact that it saves you lots of time to be able to get to the site. The concept and idea behind this is that anytime you are connected to the net and you open your browser ( IE, Mozilla, Safari, Opera, Flock e.t.c.), what will come up will just be the Google UK homepage, and this makes your search experience easy and stress free.

To make it your homepage, follow the following guidelines:

  1. Open your preferred browser, it may be Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome e.t.c.
  2. Locate “option” from the top bar of the browser, and click on it. For Google Chrome, look towards the extreme right hand side, you will see a wheel icon, click on it and locate “options”. The same process applies for Mozilla ( except for Firefox 7 and 8;  just look towards the extreme top left hand side, click on the Mozilla icon, locate option and click on it).
  3. In Mozilla, the Option page will take you to the homepage settings, by default, the Mozilla website is the homepage, just erase and type www.Google.co.uk into the box and click ok.
  4. For Internet Explorer (I’m using IE8), open the browser, look towards the extreme right hand side, locate “tools” and click on it. From the displayed results, locate “Internet Options” and click on it. What will be displayed will be the General settings tab and from here, you can adjust the homepage settings. To do this, erase off the address that is presently there, and type in www.Google.co.uk.
